How can I remove semi-permanent Hair Color?
How to remove semi-permanent black hair dye?
Hello! So here’s the story. I’ve been dying my hair with Clairol Natural Instincts (28 Wash), Midnight Black 36 since November 2009. My hair is naturally a medium brown with lots of red highlights. The dye has never completely faded out, since I touch it up when it fades but it DOES fade if left alone for awhile. It’s currently been about 2 months since I last colored and I can faintly see my natural color if my hair is under direct light.
Lately, I’ve really been wanting to bleach my tips out and dye them a bright color, like aqua or hot pink. I know that bleaching out black hair dye yourself is not advised (Note: I cannot afford a salon) but I was wondering two things.
1. Is it different for semi-permanent dye?
2. What would be the best way to remove the dye?
Well there really is no such thing as permanent hair dye. So anything you use is semi-permanent. It it ok to bleach if you are doing just the tips yourself. If you wanted the whole head done you would have to buck up the cash to have it done right. Basically you are going to want to get a bleach kit or something sold in most store called hair dye remover or stripper, which is essentially a bleach kit. And going from black you will have to do it a few times because the solutions dies quickly once applied and your hair will be orange until you do it again. Make sure you get the nutrients back in your hair after a strip. Buy some reconstructor or some deep conditioner to make it soft again because it will feel dead and coarse like straw if you don’t.
how can i bleach my hair red on top of jet black semi permanent dyed hair?
i want to bleach my hair to a red wine color but my hair at the moment is jet black but its a semi- permanent. so would i have to remove the jet black hair color before bleaching it to a red…even though it’s a semi-permanent
You could either wait until it washes out a bit as its semi-permanent but i had my hair dyed too dark so i had the dye stripped out and started over which you could do with the red dye.
Stripping Semi-Permanent Hair Color?
Okay so I helped my friend dye his hair dark for a show that he’s in. He has naturally very light blond hair, and we used semi-permanent Clairol Nice ‘n’ Easy Darkest Brown (28-Wash) dye.
It turned out BLACK. Not brown like it was supposed to…BLACK.
Now, he’s fine for the show (thankfully his director didn’t kill him/me)…but does anyone have any advice for at least lightening the dye? We’re college students so going to a salon is kind of out of the question…I’ve heard a lot about color stripping…how damaging is that? Is there a way to remove the color without bleaching, re-dying, or destroying his hair ?
Help would be greatly appreciated!
*edit* he didn’t really want dyed hair at all…his director told him that for the show, he had to make his hair dark.
Get familiar with prell shampoo – or use the strongest shampoo you can find. Neutrogena is heavy in the detergent department….
Put it on dry hair and let it sit for half an hour then wash….repeat as needed.
That helped me in the same boat
Removing black hair dye ? !?
I had my hair bleached a year ago and it ended up bright yellow + my stylist accidentally cut my hair up to my shoulders. So I didnt bother to do anything with it other than to let it grow and bleach it more once it was back to its length. So I ended up with 7 inches of dark roots and like 6 inches of blond/yellow ends. I figured what the hell and dyed it black with a store bought semi permanent color thinking it would be an easy way to fix it up so I could wear my hair down in public (I just wore my hair up to hide my 2 toned hair up til then LOL ) But I really do not like it at all and wish I would have just went to a salon and had them do it blonde. Is there anyway I can remove the black dye and have it fixed to blonde ? What it comes down to it under this black dye which has faded to brown I have blonde ends and also my natural dark brown roots. Could the black dye be removed and could I somehow make it blonde all around ? I know it would be damaging but ive had damaged hair before and can deal with it. Also I only dyed it black once…. Thanks
Yes, you can lift you hair to a blonde, but I wouldn’t suggest Platinum blonde. That would be to much for your hair. Have a stylist do a bleach highlight(from roots to ends) and just lift your re-growth area with a toner to give a natural blonde look.
Removing permanent hair dye?
I read that semi permanent and demi permanent only darken hair color and permanent hair dye lightens. I have black hair, so I want to dye it to a medium dark brown color. If I don’t like the color I end up with, is there any way to change it back to black besides redyeing or going to a salon?
There is something on the self that strips dye from your hair- I’m not sure what it’s called but it’s avaliable at my local walgreens by the hair dye. The only problem is that I think it’s really bad for your hair. I wouldn’t use it unless as a last resort.
Will all this damage my hair alot? (expecting at least some damage)?
i have been dying my hair black for at least a year and a half now.
the last time i dyed my hair was a little more than a month ago. (black)
i am planning to go blonde and im willing to wait instead of jumping right to it.
i want to first wait a little longer for it to fade a bit.
then use ”color oops”
[[Color Oops is a revolutionary hair product that removes hair color to restore hair to its natural color. This is a miracle product because not only can it remove unwanted color, but it won't damage your hair! What is so unique about Color Oops is a special ingredient known as hydrosulfite. Hydrosulfite rapidly reduces the dye molecule without the need for bleach, ammonia, or peroxide. That old hair color simply rinses right out! You can even dye your hair that same day.
Takes you back to your original color.
Gently removes permanent & semi-permanent hair color.
Takes only 20 minutes.
Safe and easy.
No ammonia, bleach, or peroxide.
Re-color the same day.]]
after using color oops wait a day or two then bleach my hair to a light blonde. i do realize that bleaching hair is damaging.
after bleaching it use a deep condioner for a week or two.. or at least until my hair isnt as dry.
((btw: i bleached large streaks in my hair about two years ago if tht helps in any way.))
is there an easier way to do this or anything tht could help me? plz help, thank you;)
The fact that you dyed your hair a little over a month ago, bleaching your hair, and putting a stripper (color oops is a stripper correct?) on your hair will damage it. If you waited a little longer to do this to your hair since you dyed it not too long ago, i think if you thoroughly condition your hair your hair will be fine.
